Abstract

Gender justice is one of the key issues in social and religious development in the modern era. In the context of Islamic society, gender justice is often misunderstood as an attempt to make men and women identical in all aspects, whereas Islam emphasizes balance and equality in rights and responsibilities. This article aims to examine the concept of gender justice from an Islamic perspective and its implementation in community empowerment programs. This study employs a qualitative-descriptive approach using a literature review method that includes Islamic references, social theories, and empirical research related to the empowerment of Muslim communities. The findings show that the principle of gender justice in Islam is founded on the values of ‘adl (justice), musawah (equality), and ukhuwah (brotherhood). Community empowerment based on Islamic values will be effective if it comprehensively considers gender justice in all stages — from planning and implementation to program evaluation.
